When it comes to stroke, every second counts. Knowing the warning signs and acting quickly can save a life.
Use B.E.F.A.S.T. to Spot a Stroke
- B - Balance: Sudden loss of balance, coordination or dizziness.
- E - Eyes: Vision changes.
- F - Face: Facial drooping, severe headache.
- A - Arms: Weakness or numbness.
- S - Speech: Difficulty speaking, slurred speech, confusion.
- T - Time: Call emergency services. Note time of onset. Every minute counts.
Other Stroke Symptoms
Be alert for these sudden symptoms:
- Numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg—especially on one side of the body
- Confusion, trouble speaking, or difficulty understanding speech
- Trouble seeing in one or both eyes
- Trouble walking, dizziness, or loss of balance and coordination
- Severe headache with no known cause
If you notice any of these warning signs, call 911 right away. Fast action can make all the difference.
